Full Monk Run Part 2: Diablo Beta Patch 17

by Ray

So today will mark the end of the Diablo 3 open beta. In the end Blizzard did a damn fine job. The stress test certainly restricted access for a lot of people early on but this morning I played with a few friends and even met up with a frequent comment poster from this very blog :) Things ran smooth as butter.

But it’s over now :( I mean, I’ve still got beta access but even that will be gone in a week and there is much work to be done on my side. I’ve got many experiments still to conduct. I’ve got so much guide writing to do. I’ve got to liaise with a friend who is proficient in website ‘things’ who is working with me on a ‘secret’ diabloiiiblog project.

It’s exciting but I’m aware some of you might be a bit sad that the open beta is coming to an end. It’s for that reason that I’ll continue posting the sections of my full, complete Monk playthrough, the first of which I uploaded yesterday (Pass The Time While Suffering Diablo 3 Open Beta Login Issues). I’ll get the rest of that playthrough to you this week beginning with part 2 in this post!

I would do it faster but rendering the sections and uploading strains the old computer and I kind’ve have to carry on with the day job (for now – still hopeful for the RMAH :P ). I also wish I could do more – I bet some of you are a bit worn out with all the video footage online – but this is the best I can think of at the moment. Perhaps some  of my other work will distract you in a better fashion until the 15th arrives!

I was lucky to get all of them 10+ and my main lvl13 so Im gonna go with the Barb! seems the best allround char for me, good damage, good aoe and great tanking :D what more can I ask for my first char. I think to make a mage or WD as first char it could get harder l8tr on without good equipment but still thats just my thinking :D

I’m of the thinking that it will get tougher for the melee characters, in terms of gear, come inferno myself. I did however have a short go of the monk and the raw physical feel of it was tremendous, I’m looking forward to trying the melee characters out more. Shame there was so many issues with the open beta

The 30% reduced damage that mele chars have plus health and defense and ways to regain health easier gives the meles a enourmous advantage in survivability and will survive better with weaker equipment but yeah if you ranged and stay ranged all the time that wont matter but still maybe with mele it will take you longer to kill them with bad equip :D

It’s a shame they couldn’t just have open beta till the 1st of may, but none the less the oppurtunity of experiencing the beta for a weekend was sufficient, better then nothing I say. Cannot wait for release! if anyone would like to party up and raid some levels please let me know!

The more I see of the monk the more I know this will be the class for me. Decent speed solo and plenty of functionality in groups will make this a super fun class to both play the game and farm for hours to make money.
Can’t wait the next videos to see more of it (the monk) in action and hopefully pick up some tips through the promised commentary^^

The wife and I have been discussing being sick on May 15. I’ve had a bad 12 years of Diabloitis and they finally produced a medication for it. May 15 @ 2am CST I should be able to take my first dose.

I will be rolling a Barb as my main and then a DH. These two classes were the most fun for me. The monk would be my 3rd character if I didn’t have OCD and thought it was weird he would sheath his weapons before attacking just to pull them back out when everything was dead. If Blizzard wants to keep the monk hand to hand they should at least stop him from pulling his weapons out in the first place. >.<
