Full Monk Run Part 3: Diablo Beta Patch 17

by Ray

As promised and continuing on from the previous video I’ve uploaded the 3rd part of my full Monk run through the beta. I’ve added some commentary hither and thither though I may ramble at times and perhaps the Irish brogue will confuse some of you. I’m working on my ‘international voice’ I promise!

What I find most exciting about these videos is that you can see the progression and the fun pouring from the screen with each rune and skill unlock. At one point I comment on this – I’m only level 6 – 8 but already I feel powerful, assured and capable of amazingly entertaining feats.

It makes you wonder what kind of combinations, animations, and entertainment we’ll see when we reach level 30 and beyond! I hope you guys enjoy the video and I hope to get the last section edited and produced (together with more, equally sporadic commentary) and uploaded within the next few days.

As always I look forward to your feedback, specifically, I’d like to know if there is interest in watching these full playthroughs on each class? I’m conscious that even though I’ve broken the videos up the segments run 10 or even 20 minutes in length (probably longer for the final quest to kill the Skeleton King).

One full run, uploaded, shows the type of progression (rune and skill unlocks) for all classes and illustrates the early story line. I’ve a full recording of the Demon Hunter ready to go too but I’m thinking there’s more value in highlights. Fresh plucked, juicy samples from recordings of each class at level 10 – 13.  A symphony of death and destruction before the beta shuts its doors! I want you guys to let me know what you’d like to see up to and beyond launch.

Watched it from beginning to the very end and I liked it, voice over commentary definitely livens things up and keep up the good job!

As I have chosen to start with Monk myself I just want to see the last part of your Beta run. Other than that I would enjoy some videos about things that are not exactly common sense and is unique to Diablo 3. Like a features overview or something like that.

Also, will you keep this site strictly as your personal blog or with time you`ll let in some other compotent Diablo players to post and make videos for this site?

That’s a good question and something I’ll have to consider. I think a wider platform for D3 players and vids and strategies is a good idea. In fact I’m working on something like that already ^^

You make very good points about the difficulty of choosing a class Ray. Earlier in the hype I would vacillate between whichever class was currently getting the youtube love, but now I’m pretty much set on Monk as my primary class at launch. I’m not convinced it will be the fastest grinder/farmer to play solo (solo will likely be my default setting) but I do think its solo mechanics will be the most fun and therefore the most rewarding for my playstyle.
Also I see high potential in the monks skillset for a really good support spec in group play providing buffs and heals that will greatly speed up the groups overall performance even if it slightly nerfs your own dps (no mods therefore no dps meters so who gives a toss anyway?^^).
I doubt I will be in the top percentile of people reaching inferno as my home commitments probably wont allow me to play at such an aggressive speed but I’m confident by the time I reach it there will still be a decent slice of RMAH pie left for me.

I played the Wizard this morning. Now I want to have a Wizard main. I’m hopeless…

I’ve looted those a few times – you occasionally come across the ‘Black Mushroom’ patch – interactive object in random spots.

I think it’s for a side quest or something not yet implemented in beta.
