Upcoming Auction House and Crafting Changes

by Ray

Blizzard held a long AMAA on the Diablo 3 subreddit recently and in the list of questions and answers two really interesting bits of  information pertaining to the auction house and crafting emerged.

Wyatt Cheng, Andrew Chambers, and Jay Wilson, game designers for Diablo III. AMAA Reddit - Diablo

This is important because, so far, it hasn’t been 100% clear that blacksmith crafting costs would be reduced – just training costs. It now looks like Haedrig will be a much more viable source of above average gear – gear which still has value to some, value far above current market prices for crafting materials. This means crafting materials will rise from their ‘below vendor price’ doldrums and the market will be much healthier. This is the kind of thing I talk about at length in the guild.

Even more interestingly we have this statement:

Wyatt Cheng, Andrew Chambers, and Jay Wilson, game designers for Diablo III. AMAA Reddit - Diablo

Now, take that 99% and make it 90% (or less) – at least in terms of this change making it in 1.0.3. However it looks like they’re pretty adamant that they want to let us cancel auctions. This is awesome news for those who’ve ever been stuck with 10/10 non-selling auctions and let’s face it, that’s most of us. This will change the auctioneering game up nicely!
